Lip Filler
Here at Sophie Piper Aesthetics we create bespoke lips. We understand that every client is an individual and so are their lips, which is why we tailor lips on an individual basis to complement and work with your natural anatomy. We discuss with you the type of product that will be used prior to the treatment along with the injection technique in order to achieve your desired look. We work to achieve every clinets goal whether it be a juicy plump pout a more subtle and natural enhancement, whatever you desire we are here to help you on your lip filler journey.
Lip fillers can be used to add definition, shape and volume to the lips. The amount of filler you will require will depend on the results you want to achieve along with your own natural anatomy. It will be required to have more than one treatment in order to maintain your desired look as Hyaluronic acid is broken down naturally by the bodies metabolism. Topical anaesthetic is used to numb the lips prior to the treatment for your comfort, we also use premium products which also have a local anaesthetic.
Most clients need 2-3ml of dermal filler over sessions spread 6 weeks apart initially to create their desired results.
Facial Filler
As we age our skin elasticity weakens, becomes thinner, and collagen levels are reduced. In combination our bone density weakens along with the fat pads in the face separating causing volume loss, thus causing wrinkles and the reason for volume loss on the face causing the skin on the face to sag.
This treatment uses a dermal filler which consists of Hyaluronic acid, this has been used for many years and has an excellent safety record. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component to everyone's skin and is found almost everywhere in the body.
It hydrates, smooths and defines features. Results can be seen instantly and can last between 6 - 12 months, depending on the area that is treated.
It is injected into the skin to fill facial lines, wrinkles and folds. It can also be injected to replace volume loss to the skin.
The amount of product needed is dependant on every individuals anatomy, their desired results and the treatment area.
Cheek Filler
Strategically placing the dermal filler high upon the cheek bone will give the illusion of a slimmer more heart shaped face. Dermal filler can also be placed within the cheeks to replace the volume which may have been lost with age, this procedure also helps with 'nose to mouth lines' as it helps lift the skin reducing the lines in this area and can also help with the appearance of under eye hollowing.
However it is important to remember that this is not a weight loss tool and can only give an illusion of a slimmer face, the amount of filler you will need depends on your anatomy.
Non Surgical Rhinoplasty
The purpose of this procedure is primarily to straighten the nose from the side, giving the illusion that it is smaller and thus, balancing the profile. We can also add product to the tip to project it if it is under projected or for those who want that 'Pixie Tip Lift' look.
This procedure is really effective in changing the profile of an individual and is a cheaper alternative to surgery. The results can last for up to 18 months in some individuals.
This area is of higher risk and therefore only small amounts of product will be placed into the nose at one time, meaning you may need to some back for an additional treatment if required, here at SPA we include a free review after two weeks following your initial treatment and will add more filler if needed after assessment as part of your original treatment price.
Jaw & Chin Filler
Jawline
Jaw filler is great for enhancing your natural jawline and giving you a slimmer more contoured appearance. It will also help those patients who are concerned about sagging jowls as filler placed strategically will improve the look of sagging jowls.

However, those patients with a strong masseter muscle at the back of the jaw (this can be felt when you bite down and clench your jaw) may need to have this muscle relaxed with anti wrinkle treatment before considering filler in this area.

Also those with a BMI over what is considered the healthy range and/or those with excess fatty tissues in the area, will not be suitable for treatment, as this not liposuction nor a weight loss tool. This procedure is to define the jawbone which is impossible if any of the above is present.
A minimum for 3ml is required if wanting a 'contoured look' as the jawline does have a large surface area and does require a lot of product for the best results.

Chin
Having having filler placed in the chin it can create an illusion of weight loss, contour and added definition. Thus giving the illusion of a sharper jawlines and slightly reduce the appearance of a double chin. By having filler in the chin it can strengthen the side profile of your face using less filler than the jawline and is a great alternative for those who are not suitable for jawline filler.
A minimum of 1ml is needed for this area.
Tear Trough Filler
As we age we can experience volume loss of our tear trough area which can cause hollowing and darkness underneath the eye. Tear trough filler also known as under eye filler is a great way to replace lost volume giving you fresher and less tired looking appearance.

This is a specialist area to treat and only specific fillers can be used in this area to give the correct results. Here at SPA we only use Teosyal Redensity 2.

However, not everyone is suitable for tear trough filler and an assessment will be carried out before the treatment to see if you are a suitable candidate. Alternatively there are other treatment options available if you are not suitable for tear trough filler such as Polynucleotides, PRF/PRP, and Light Eyes Ultra.
Which areas can be treated with dermal fillers?
Vertical lip lines ( smokers wrinkles), Cheeks, Jawline, Chin, Nose, Marionette Lines (Jowls), Nasolabial folds (smile lines), Lips, Tear Troughs (Eye bags).

What is dermal filler?
Filler is made of Hyaluronic Acid, a water loving molecule that binds up to 400 x its weight in water. It works like a sponge and fills up with water upon injection filling out fine lines/wrinkles and plumping lips.
Is there anything I can do to prepare before the procedure?
You can take arnica tablets for a week before hand to help with any bruising. Do not drink ANY alcohol for 24 hours before your treatment.

Will there be swelling?
You may experience redness, bruising or swelling in the injected area. These effects should not last longer than 2 weeks.
Make up can be applied after 12 hours.
Will it hurt?
A topical anaesthetic will be used for 10 minutes prior to the procedure to help minimise any initial discomfort.
We only use premium products here at SPA, therefore the brands we use contain lidocaine within the product. Meaning that your lips are also being numbed whilst they are being injected.
Where possible a cannula is used for treatments meaning it is less painful as it is only used to pierce the skin once and then a blunt device is inserted into one entry point from which the entire treatment is carried out.
This technique is proven to cause less bruising due to no sharp needles and therefore less trauma resulting in less down time.
How long does dermal filler last?
Every individual is different, and what may give an immediate result on one client may take two or three sessions to achieve on another.
This can also be said that, what may last 1 year on one client may last less than 12 weeks on another.
This is due to several factors including lifestyle, skin type, metabolism etc and therefore it is not an exact science.
Filler does however take time to build up, regardless of how natural you want it, therefore bare in mind that you will need to be patient and expect to visit frequently for top ups over the first year to build a base.
This will help ensure your treatment area lasts longer and once that base is in place – should need less maintenance in the future.

Can it be removed if I don't like it?
In most cases filler can be dissolved and reversed by hyaluronidase, this is a product which is administered via small injections to break the product down. the Product will mostly be gone within 48 hours but will be completely gone after 2 weeks.
I don't know which treatment to book?
If you’re torn between two treatments feel free to book either, not everyone knows what exactly they might want or need and we will work with clients on the day of their appointment working with their expectations and needs.
Can I fly after having dermal filler treatment?
We advise all clients to wait a minimum of 48hrs before flying. Although it is rare, this is due to complications which can occur and in theses circumstances you would need to return to the clinic for an emergency reversal protocol.
-
Avoid touching the treated area or applying with products for 12 hours following treatment. After that light makeup can be applied and the area can be gently washed with soap and water.
-
Until the initial swelling and redness has resolved please do not expose the area to intense heat. Eg sunbeds, sunbathing or extreme cold. (I would recommend waiting a week before going on a sunbed).
-
Please do not exercise for 48 hours after your procedure as it can cause migration of filler and increased swelling.
-
Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours post treatment.
-
Apply an ice pack to the area intermittently
-
Anti histamines will reduce redness and swelling
-
If you have previous suffered facial herpes, there is a risk that injections could contribute to another eruption. Please discuss this during your consultation.
-
If you are taking aspirin, ibuprofen, St Johns Wort, Vitamin E, Garlic supplements or any similar medication, please be aware that this may increase the risk of bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Please discuss this with us before hand if you have any concerns and are taking this medication.
-
Swelling will be present 2 weeks after the injections as injection cause an inflammatory response, during this time the area can feel lumpy and uneven. This is due to trauma and swelling of the tissues from the procedure and should subside after two weeks.
-
After the two week period the filler will skin into the skin and form a layer at the base of the treatment area. This can confuse clients as they think the filler has dissolved or disappeared. Many clients find they need two or three sessions in order to layer filler on top of one another – until the filler no longer has room to sink
Managing Expectations
Please remember we can only enhance our natural features and that it is not possible to completely change them.
Any treatment should be looked at as an improvement rather than a cure. It is not always possible to create the desired look if your facial anatomy and genetics do not allow.
Please remember our faces are not symmetrical and sometimes no amount of filler can correct this – in some cases it may make it appear worse. Your nurse will best advise on the day of your treatment but as always there is no guarantee.
